Because we're pairing each art project we do with a poem this year, we completed simple acrostic poems using our names. I asked the students to come up with phrases for each letter (instead of just one word) and to make the last two lines rhyme (a rhyming couplet). We published our poems on the computer and printed them out on some special computer paper I bought for our published poems this year (I included the link below).
I got started on our bulletin board after school - instead of putting these up on our "smART class" bulletin boards, I decided to share these works of art on our large bulletin board outside the classroom so everyone can enjoy! Can't wait until everybody finishes on Monday!!!
Happy Friday!!! Hope you all have a FANTASTIC weekend!!!

Fun in Room 4B
These turned out great!!! I love how the brightly-colored names really stand out in the middle! And the idea of having a poem to go with each art project! What a wonderful idea!!

Lessons with Laughter
I love your art projects. They make me a much more artistic teacher. :) One question - How do you instruct your students about the black and white starburst pattern?
ReplyDeleteI agree, this is beautiful and such a creative use of their names in art. I was wondering how much time it takes to complete one? I would love to do something like this but don't want to embark on it without feeling that they have adequate time to do it in 2 sessions. I don't mind splitting the time, I just need an estimate on how long. Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteLove love your blog and awesome ideas. When the heck do you find the time during the day to teach art? I'm lucky if I'm able to fit in science or social studies. Especially with the new CCSS my time is mainly spent with all reading and math lessons. Thanks for the neat and fun teaching ideas.
ReplyDeleteCute!!!
