Little Accomplishments

04 September 2011
Spent another day in the classroom.  Well, actually it was just part of a day, but I brought my husband so I figured if both of us worked for half a day, that's the same as a full day, right?  We got a bit more accomplished today, but not nearly as much as I had hoped.  So, it's back to the classroom ALL day tomorrow ... sigh.

This is what my math cupboard and bulletin board looked like before I started the makeover ...

And this is after.  I painted the shelf, bought new baskets, and redid the bulletin board.  Much better!

We also got all of the desks set up, a new banner hung, my tissue paper pom poms hung, my computer and ELMO hooked back up (and the mess of cords organized), my work table set up, and a bit of decorating done.  Oh, and most importantly (I thought), my new coffee maker set up!  This made the day much more bearable ... and makes me almost look forward to going in tomorrow ... almost.

This was before.  View from the door.  This angle makes my classroom look so much larger than it actually it is.

And this is after.  A bit more done, but soooooo much more to do tomorrow.

Check back in tomorrow - I'll be posting the pics of my completed classroom.  And it will be completed - I don't have a choice ... it's back to school on Tuesday!

  1. Love, love, love the turquoise in your room!! I also spent all day yesterday and today. I am taking tomorrow off.

  2. I love the turquoise and really pops! Great change.

  3. Isn't it amazing how much of our "off" time we actually spend working!? I try to tell people that when they give us a hard time about having summers off. I have to go in tomorrow to clean up/organize things I never finished before school started!

I envy your storage space, by the way! I have a good amount of cupboards, but not nearly enough shelves for my teaching materials. My binders don't fit in my cupboards because they aren't deep enough (they should have thought of that when they built/designed the rooms!).

Does your husband teach? Mine teaches two doors down from me, so I'm always asking him to help me move large things! lol It's so nice yours came in to help you! :) Hope you finish in time to rest some tomorrow!

  4. I love the revamp of the bulletin board! Your room is looking great. Good luck on your first day. :)

  5. Glad you got the coffee maker set up. That is the most important part, because without it... nothing else can happen. We are not allowed to have such things in our classroom (huge frowny face) so one of my coworkers has a Kerug machine set up in her desk drawer. You can't see it, but you can smell it. I love it! ~Amanda @ The Teaching Thief

  6. P.S. I love your problem solving board. I need to get one of those set up in my room too.

  7. Enthusiasm IGNITES Greatness . . . I have to adopt that! Thanks for sharing.

  8. When do you start school? I've already rearranged my room twice and we only started August 18th. Sigh!!

  9. It looks lovely! We start back to school tomorrow. I went in today to do some last minute stuff but I'm still not feeling completely ready. Best of luck!

  10. Good morning, Jen! I hope your first day went swimmingly. I cannot WAIT to hear how your character activity went with the A-Zs . . . I just posted instructions for the Crayons to College game that we played if you want another idea.
